Man charged with second-degree murder after woman found dead in Toronto apartment

Toronto police have charged a man with second-degree murder and shared the name of the woman found dead in an apartment in the city’s west end on Sunday.

Toronto Fire said crews and EMS services responded to reports of “unknown trouble” near Harbord Street and Ossington Avenue at around 11:44 a.m. on Sunday.

Firefighters found a woman without vital signs in a second-floor apartment.

The woman had signs of “serious injuries” and died on scene, according to police.

Officers arrested a man at the scene of the incident. The man went to hospital with minor injuries.

On Thursday, police said the victim is Yoleidys Vilar Arroyo, 50, of Toronto.

Police said a 51-year-old Toronto man is charged with second-degree murder.

The victim and suspect knew each other, police said in a media briefing on Sunday.

The suspect was set to appear in court on Monday.
